Since we are new to the area, I joined a couple of Facebook groups for the cities nearby. I was hoping to learn about special events around us and I have not been disappointed so far.
There is a Reindeer Farm that I have passed by several times that has caught my eye and I was always curious what this place was. Luckily, good ol’ Facebook was eager to share.
A couple of weeks ago, I saw an event that they were hosting called the “Santa Drop”. Of course this peaked my interest, and I was surprised to learn what the name actually meant… Santa would literally be “DROPPING” into the reindeer farm. Via airplane. AKA… Santa would be skydiving!
Apparently this is an event that they’ve hosted for the past year or 2. At the beginning of the holiday season, they have an airplane fly around the Reindeer Farm and then 2 elves jump from the plane and float down to the farm. Followed by Ol’ Saint Nick! It was so cool!
Tickets were very reasonable and gave us total access to the farm. This included viewing the “Santa Drop”, the playground, visiting the reindeer, their special highland cows, the gift shop and so much more! They also had additional things that we could purchase including animal feed, train rides, donuts, cider and all kinds of other goodies. We even got to visit Santa! (Included with our tickets.)
We had such a great time and will definitely be going back next year! My only complaint is that the line to see Santa was rather long. We waiting for around an hour to get our visit. Next time, we will make sure to plan better and have more time to ride the train around the farm and feed the reindeer!
While we were there, we learned that they had a bunch of other events planned. They did a special “Frozen Day” where the kids could meet with Anna and Elsa from Frozen, a special “Flying Pancake Breakfast with Santa” where Santa literally threw pancakes at the kids to catch for breakfast and a day dedicated to visiting with “Mr. G” (the Grinch).
If you are ever in the area, or just want a different experience with Santa, you have to check this place out! It’s called Rooftop Landing Reindeer Farm and it’s located in Clare, Michigan. I’m sure a little Googling can get you some additional info, if your heart desires.
Check out the quick little video I made from our trip:
What was your favorite encounter with Santa as a kid? Or with your own kids? If you’re located in the Central Michigan area, what are some other “must see” events that we need to check out this year? Comment below and let me know!
Thanks for reading!
