Heart Broken? Or New Love?
For everyone who knows Chris, you are already well aware that he has a love of automobiles. Specifically things that are different/cool/unique. He has always owned multiple vehicles. In my opinion, this is a large contributing factor to why we purchased our home in Royal Oak. Simply for the garage…
We were moving from Lake Orion, MI to Royal Oak, MI to be closer to family, friends and work. Our garage at the Lake Orion house was just your standard 1.5 car garage. Decently sized for your average family. However, Chris is not your average guy! I’m convinced that he was ready to purchase this Royal Oak house the moment he saw the size of the garage. Then add the 10′ door and double wide driveway. He was hooked.
He told me on multiple occasions that we could never move to another place with a smaller garage than the one in Royal Oak. So he was pleased to see that our new home in Lake had a standard 2 car garage PLUS a giant pole barn.
Just like he told me that we have to get a bigger TV every time we move, I think he requires a bigger garage every time we move. But nobody is planning to move again.
Anyway, when we moved up north, Chris knew that he was going to sell his Corvette. There are a lot of dirt roads up here, and it’s not the most efficient vehicle to be driving around. Plus, he was growing bored with it. (As he typically does with all of his “toy cars” after a few years.) So he posted it for sale.
Because he had made some modifications to the Corvette (a hand brake, and some other things that I have no idea about – haha), he didn’t have super high hopes that it would sell immediately. So when he was approached by someone that wanted to trade him for a Side-By-Side, he agreed.
This was much more practical for our new lifestyle. Not to mention, a lot more fun! He has enjoyed riding it around the property and doing his best to scare the bejesus out of his Mom. The kids really like going for rides and Chris and I have even done some trail riding on some of the state land nearby.
Now he’s talking about his plans for winter… He wants to strap a car hood to the back of it and pull myself and the kids around in the snow. As you can imagine, I’m not sure how I feel about this. I’m sure the kids will be thrilled. I, on the other hand, am already bracing myself to trips to the hospital. Haha! If anyone else would like to volunteer to “ride the hood” in our place, I’m sure he would be happy to pull you. I’ll keep you posted when the snow arrives.
Overall, I think he made a good trade! I guess we will see how long it takes him to get bored with this one…
Now for a quick drive down memory lane (for Chris and the boys)…
Thanks for reading!
