This past summer we had the opportunity for something VERY exciting! We had a PRIVATE concert at our house with JASON CROSS! If you haven’t heard of him, he is an up and coming country singer from Michigan. Chris and I saw him in concert a few years ago – he opened for Lakeview – and he was really good! We never expected to have him, or anyone else for that matter, perform a private concert at our house!
So how did this happen? Let me explain…
Chris and I both follow Jason Cross on Instagram. Early in the summer, he posted something about a “Hometown Tour” where he would be traveling around Michigan and performing at any venue that would have him. Chris saw this and reached out to him right away and suggested that he come to our house for a concert. To our surprise, we heard back from him right away and he agreed to come play for us! We had to pay a fee (we sold tickets to cover a portion of this) and we had to provide a place for him to stay. Easy enough!
When concert day arrived, we set up a stage for him next to our house and had a bunch of family and friends come over. He showed up in a van with his finance and they set everything up all by themselves. They were such great people! Both super nice and down to earth. My girls, along with Chris and I, are big fans of Jason, and they were so excited to meet him. He took pictures with all of us, sold merchandise and autographed everything.
The concert itself was amazing! Jason has such an incredible voice! He sang a bunch of his songs, songs that were popular that everyone knew and even took requests. After the concert, he hung out with us for a bit and met/talked with all of our family and friends. Then, while he was packing up, we invited him out to the local karaoke bar and he actually agreed to go! So the party continued after the concert!
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to go out to the bar with him and everyone else. I was about 6 months pregnant, very tired and had to stay home to put the kids to bed. But they all had a great time. Chris said they shotgunned beers together, sang a bunch of songs, and had an awesome night.
It was such an amazing day and we are so appreciative that he came out to our house to give us this experience. Morgan and Jenna still talk about him and the concert. Chris and I think it’s so cool that their first concert was at our house! If you ever get the chance to see him in concert, we would HIGHLY recommend it! He puts on a great show!
We hope he does this again next year and will come back!
