Learnin’ All the Things

When we moved from Royal Oak to Lake, we knew there would be a lot of adjustments. It truly is a completely different lifestyle up here and, although we are absolutely loving it, there is a bit of a learning curve. (For me anyway.)

So I thought I would share some of the things that I have learned since we left the city. Buckle up!

  1. Chickens cannot swim. They are not ducks and do not have webbed feet. If you purchase chickens, they do not need a pool.

    2. Eggs come from a chicken’s butt. (Eww. Am I the only person who didn’t know this?!)

    3. If you leave the eggs “dirty” after they come out, they will stay fresh for longer and do not have to be refrigerated. (Umm… gross…)

      4. “Barn Cats” or “Outdoor Cats” can eat entire squirrels – bones and all – with no problem.

      5. If you are driving for a while and don’t see a speed limit posted, it’s 55 mph. (I might need to fact check this one… That is what Chris told me. Can any police officers confirm before I get a reckless driving ticket? Hahaha)

        6. AirTags don’t work well on our street. (Good thing Dale & Luna heard me calling them and came back.)

        7. 3-legged dogs can wonder surprisingly far from home, despite only having 3 legs.

          8. Beavers can build an entire dam in less than 3 hours.

            9. Otters live in Michigan.

              10. Weasels live in Michigan and look exactly like ferrets. They are not ferrets. Weasels are not pets. Right?

                11. Porcupines can get really big.

                12. Porcupines can climb trees.

                13. Instacart does not deliver up here.

                14. Grubhub/DoorDash do not deliver up here.

                15. “No Motor Vehicles” signs are simply a suggestion. (According to Chris)

                16. If you flip a Side-by-Side and don’t turn it over right away, it takes a long time to re-start.

                  17. Small Town Gossip is a real thing.

Those are all of the new facts I have accumulated so far. Make sure to subscribe to see what I learn next! Especially with hunting season starting soon…. Is there anything that I should prepare for? Or anything I should know that I may not have learned yet? Drop a comment below!

                  Thanks for reading!

                  xoxo
